  • Julie Viens, Ed.M.,Manager Partner

    2009-03-19 Ms. Viens is a leading expert on Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory and its application in learning contexts, from early childhood through adult education. She is the co-creator of the "Pathways model," a guiding framework for applying MI theory. She has authored several works regarding MI and its application in a range of educational settings. Much of her training is a result of her work with Dr. Howard Gardner and colleagues at Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), where she worked as researcher, author, and professional development provider for nearly two decades. Ms. Viens also holds a Masters in Education from HGSE.

She currently serves as a Director at Singapore Cruise Centre, Singex Exhibitions, Singex Exhibition Ventures and Singex Venues. Ms. Lim received her Bachelors in Accounting from National University of Singapore and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

    2009-07-17 Mei Rulie is a professor at Beijing Institute of Education (BIE) and is the Vice President of China's Tao Xingzhi Research Society. Since 2000, she has applied MI theory to the most pressing issues in China’s educational reform. Professor Mei was appointed Head of the Sino-American DIC Cooperation Project led by renowned Chinese educator Mr. Tao Xiping, where she was in charge of using MI theory to “Develop Full Potential, Cultivate Whole Character”. This project has since been appointed as one of the key research project by the China Education Society. Professor Mei has also organized four previous international MI conferences in China. She has been a central figure in the effort for educational reform by the Chinese government since the beginning of the 21st century, spending nine years developing the practical application of the MI theory. Based on her research, she has published several books and multimedia resources including “Leveraging MI Theory for Curriculum Reform” and “Practical Applications of MI Theory.”
  • Dr. George E. Forman,Advisory Board Member

    2009-03-19 Dr. Forman is a well-known author of books and articles on cognitive development, constructivist learning, early symbolic development, early science learning, and the Reggio Emilia model in practice. For four years he was a research psychologist at Project Zero, looking at children's early symbolization across media such as blocks, clay, song, and movement. He has developed participatory exhibits for young children that can be found in children's museums in worldwide. Since 1986 Dr. Forman has worked with the Reggio Emilia schools in Italy, bringing their educational model to the US. This work is presented in his co-edited book, The Hundred Languages of Children. Dr. Forman's current research falls into three areas in early childhood: cooperative problem solving, the use of video replay to enhance reflective thinking, and the use of drawing and animated symbols in science instruction. In 2003 he co-founded Videatives, Inc. to implement the professional development of early childhood educators via digital video on the World Wide Web.
  • Thomas R. Hoerr, Ph.D.,Advisory Board Member

    2009-03-19 Dr. Hoerr is longtime head of the New City School, in St. Louis, Missouri, an independent elementary school of 350 students, 3-12 years of age. Since 1988 the New City School faculty has been implementing the theory of Multiple Intelligences (MI) under Dr. Hoerr's guidance, gaining national recognition for its work. The school has hosted four MI conferences, and 500-700 educators visit each year. It also boasts a state of the art multiple intelligences library. Dr. Hoerr is a prolific writer, having authored hundreds of articles and several books on MI and MI School leadership. He has given many presentations on the implementation of MI theory and on school leadership at conferences and schools internationally. He has also served on numerous educational boards and committees in his long educational career.

    2009-03-19 Kiran Sethi is the director of the Riverside School in Ahmedabad, India, a co-educational school created around a philosophy that it has called "Roots-Froots": "To provide children with the highest quality and no-compromise primary education, that will be the basis of their overall development and competency for the rest of their lives." The Riverside School program for ages 2-7 uses Multiple Intelligences theory as the bedrock of its planning, instruction and assessment. Riverside offers certification programs for teachers and school leaders which are attended by participants worldwide. Ms. Sethi has participated in Project Zero professional training at Harvard Graduate School of Education and travels worldwide to train teachers in Curriculum Planning and Creative Thinking. She was recently awarded the 'Call to Conscience' award by the Dr Martin Luther King Center at Stanford Universty. She was also a semi finalist for the ASCD Outstanding Young Educator Award for the year 2005. She was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship 2008 for founding "aProCh - A Protagonist in every Child". Awarded by the Ahoka Foundation, USA to change makers who inspire and provide system changing solutions for the world's most urgent social problems.

    2009-03-19 Ms. Goyal is an educator based in Singapore. She received the Outstanding Voluntary Welfare Organization award for her educational work through the non-profit, Child at Street 11. Ms. Goyal mentored teachers in three local preschools in a project initiatied by Dr. Lee, Head of National Neurology Institute. Her work has been supported by Law Minister Mr. Shanmugam and Member of Parliament, Dr Teo Ho Pin. Ms. Goyal's received her Masters in Education degree from University of Sheffield, UK. She has participated in Harvard Project Zero training programs and numerous international conferences. She also collaborates with educators from Reggio Emilia, Italy. Most recently, Ms. Goyal founded EduRetreat, Singapore, which offers education travel organized around a discipline, domain, or other theme (e.g., early childhood education) . EduRetreat creates opportunities for exposure, exchange and exploration of Western and Eastern philosophies, cultures, artifacts and aesthetics.
